The Memorial Room

Permanent exhibition in the Memorial Room of King Petar I Karadjordjević is a unique media experience in the Serbian museum practice. The conceptual framework of the exhibition proceeds from the assumption that history and historical figures are expressions of specific discourses. The basis of the exhibition is a mosaic made of hundreds of different photographs, arranged and designed to build a portrait of King Petar I Karadjordjević on the domineering wall in the Memorial Room. Photographs gathered from numerous national institutions and private collections show the King, his family, contemporaries, events and other elements which together build a historical portrait of the figure. The portrait as such is a unique discursive formation where individual recorded moments of the time when he lived, with their specific interpersonal relations, build the portrait of the King.

King Petar I Uniform Reconstruction Project

The permanent exhibition in the House of King Petar I was supplemented on 16 August 2015, on the anniversary of King Petar I Karadjordjević’s death, with a replica of the King’s military uniform.

The uniform in the permanent exhibition in the House of King Petar I is available for all visitors.

City of Belgrade’s Secretariat for Culture has supported the ‘King Petar I Karadjordjević Uniform Reconstruction’ Project.
